Recent work, using water-based oils

I’ve been painting with oils lately, getting used to the medium, and trying out Royal Talens water-based oil paint. I’ve always loved the almost nothing nature of watercolor and the humility that working with watercolor demands, but oils allow a very different kind of conversation: paint can be applied more thickly, areas can be re-worked while still wet, or overpainted when dry. I’m interested in edges and squared brush work and oils are wonderful for this kind of painting. a few recent examples below and here’s a slideshow with more examples..
